Hardware
NexTVision develops, manufactures and markets a line of Internet Protocol broadband advanced digital set top boxes that deliver IPTV, Video-on-Demand, VoIP and a wide variety of other interactive services to the television set. NexTVision digital set-top boxes are low cost, feature rich, computer similar products. Products operate with all broadband delivery systems - Ethernet as well as DSL, cable, satellite and wireless modems. Both standard definition and High definition TV are supported. These digital set top boxes are among the first of a new generation of digital home products that process the major VOD formats- MPEG 2, MPEG 4 and VC 1. Codec processing is hardware based. NexTVision products enable the service provider to migrate, at any time, from an MPEG 2 delivery to VC 1 or MPEG 4 format without a change of hardware Nextvision has been actively engaged in the IPTV and VOD sector since its inception in 2000.
Fontana Model
The service provider who is not utilizing fiber, satellite or cable as transport may find that bandwidth over copper is not sufficient to provide the Mbps necessary for high definition TV in a multiple TV household. Obviously, fiber infrastructure is an expensive solution. An alternate delivery format of TV over satellite with VOD over broadband IP provides the ideal solution. The NexTVision models include an integrated TV tuner- cable, satellite or terrestrial- as well as a hard drive for DVR functionality. The recently introduced Fontana 'hybrid" model, is truly a set top box for tomorrow.
